What does working with a contract paralegal look like?

In order to hire me, the attorney will schedule an interview to ensure I can meet their needs.

Once hired, my average day begins with a review of emails and phone calls from the attorneys who assign me projects. They provide the necessary details and documents via phone, email or fax and I complete most projects from my home office. Occassionally, I meet with attorneys in-person to pick up documents, perform on-site work, or for other reasons. Occassionally, I will spend an extended number of days at a firm performing work on-site for larger projects, to cover absent employees, or to provide office organizing services. I also occassionally meet with the attorney's clients directly or visit other locations (courts, county recorders, health departments, etc.) to perform vairous tasks under the attorney's supervision. Before a task is completed, I ensure that the attorney has thoroughly reviewed my work and approved it. Approximately twice a month, I prepare an invoice to email and mail to each attorney I assist.

Can Rosa help me if I am not an attorney?

No, Rosa can only assist licensed attorneys. Pursuant to Business and Professions Code 6450 (b), a paralegal is not allowed to "Contract with, or be employed by, a natural person other than an attorney to perform paralegal services." If you need legal assistance or legal advice, please contact your county's bar association and they will provide you with a lawyer referral service.
